Lent Day 31

The first thing to notice about this Psalm is that King David walks in the LORD's (Yahweh's) faithfulness. He does not walk in his own faithfulness, but looking to the character and nature of God, he lives his life according to who Yahweh is for his people. What is Yahweh like? He is steadfast in love. His love for his people is unshakable, unwavering; it never ceases. He is always faithful. So, if David walks in Yahweh's faithfulness, then David can confidently pray, "Prove me," "test my heart," "test my mind."

To be a person of faith is to likewise walk in Yahweh's faithfulness with the steadfast love of God, demonstrated through the cross of Christ, ever before our eyes.  That is, we look at the world around us with Gospel-colored glasses.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, prove me, try me, test my heart and mind. Thank you for your sacrifice on the cross that demonstrated your steadfast love and faithfulness. Your steadfast love is before my eyes. Empower me by faith to walk always in your faithfulness with the good news of Jesus Christ always before my eyes. Amen.
