Abraham Justified By Faith
Even in the Old Testament, long before Israel became a nation, the Kingdom of God was evident in the same way it is today—to the Apostle Paul, Abraham is an Example of Faith in Jesus. Abraham believed (had faith in) God's promise and it was counted to him as righteousness. Abraham’s belief in God–loyalty to Christ–resulted in his attributed righteousness.
So, Abraham is blessed, not because he earned it by his own merit but because of God's grace. The Apostle Paul believes that Abraham was blessed with forgiveness of sins through Jesus’s blood. it’s not your effort at righteousness that produces justification–makes you right with God–but turning to Christ in faith.
Abraham is the Father of the Faithful. The Apostle Paul concludes this passage by saying we should walk in the footsteps of faith. If we are faithful to Jesus, we believe with Abraham, that we have been counted righteous.
