Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion. It cannot be shaken; it remains forever. So those who were scattered went on their way preaching the word. After they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they traveled back to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages.
Our eyes are on the Lord our God until he shows us favor. We’ve had more than enough scorn. In his own eyes, a slacker is wiser than seven who can answer sensibly. severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the land of Judea and Samaria. Saul was ravaging the church.
Then the high priest rose up. He and all who were with him, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. The chief priests heard, were baffled, wondering what would come of this. So the word of God spread, the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly in number, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them. Since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.
…Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me…The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit…My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples…
