Psalm 7 (CSB)

Psalm 7

Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.

Lord my God, I seek refuge in you;

save me from all my pursuers and rescue me

or they will tear me like a lion,

ripping me apart with no one to rescue me.

Lord my God, if I have done this,

if there is injustice on my hands,

if I have done harm to one at peace with me

or have plundered my adversary without cause,

may an enemy pursue and overtake me;

may he trample me to the ground

and leave my honor in the dust.

Rise up, Lord, in your anger;

lift yourself up against the fury of my adversaries;

awake for me;,

you have ordained a judgment.

Let the assembly of peoples gather around you;

take your seat on high over it.

The Lord judges the peoples;

vindicate me, Lord,

according to my righteousness and my integrity.

Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,

but establish the righteous.

The one who examines the thoughts and emotions

is a righteous God.

10 My shield is with God,

who saves the upright in heart.

11 God is a righteous judge

and a God who shows his wrath every day.

12 If anyone does not repent,

he will sharpen his sword;

he has strung his bow and made it ready.

13 He has prepared his deadly weapons;

he tips his arrows with fire.

14 See, the wicked one is pregnant with evil,

conceives trouble, and gives birth to deceit.

15 He dug a pit and hollowed it out

but fell into the hole he had made.

16 His trouble comes back on his own head;

his own violence comes down on top of his head.

17 I will thank the Lord for his righteousness;

I will sing about the name of the Lord Most High.

Proverbs 1:33 (CSB)

33 But whoever listens to me will live securely

and be undisturbed by the dread of danger.”

Matthew 7:12–23 (CSB)

12 Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. 14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

15 “Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!,,
