Famine in the Land (January 11, 2021)

When a famine struck the land, Abram went down toward Egypt to live as an immigrant since the famine was so severe in the land. Just before he arrived in Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know you are a good-looking woman. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife,’ and they will kill me but let you live. So tell them you are my sister so that they will treat me well for your sake, and I will survive because of you.”

Remember, Restore, Renew

Some Christians are content with head knowledge with a weak prayer life. Others find ways to feel connected to God that the Bible has not taught. In this message from Lamentations 5, we will learn from Jeremiah that prayer is more than asking. It’s spending time with our Father, and getting to know him, not just about him. In this we find that prayer is the source of true spirituality.

Jesus has Power Over Death

You cannot believe that God died to rescue you from wrath for sins without living a life to be free from sins. You also cannot live a life free of sins without believing that Jesus is Lord. It doesn’t compute. If you believe in Jesus, you follow him in the way he lived. If you don’t believe in Jesus, you do whatever you think is right in your own eyes.

I want this to unsettle the way you think about Christianity. Too many people become Christians because they want Jesus to help them live their life better.

Jesus is the Son of God (The Doctrine of the Trinity)

Peter Pan isn’t the sword-wielding, swashbuckling, pirate-swallowing story you remember. It’s actually a beautiful adoption story. It’s about family and the adoption of sons by righteous fathers. Likewise, Jesus is the Son of God so that we can be adopted as children of God.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come!

Our life is neither hopeless nor meaningless. What we do matters to God. This message encourages us to REMEMBER that there is a future for Christians and that the future is foundational to the Christian faith. We are to WATCH and pray for the arrival of the future return of Jesus. And we LIVE as though what we do in life now matters to God in the end—our lives are not hopeless or meaningless, but purposeful and valuable in God’s eyes.

The Tower of Babel (January 8, 2021)

The Lord said, “There is now one people and they all have one language. This is what they have begun to do, and now all that they plan to do will be possible for them. Come, let’s go down and mix up their language there so they won’t understand each other’s language.” Then the Lord dispersed them from there over all of the earth, and they stopped building the city. Therefore, it is named Babel, because there the Lord mixed up the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord dispersed them over all the earth.

You Must Not Put the Lord Your God to the Test (January 7, 2021)

The devil took him off to the holy city, and stood him on a pinnacle of the Temple. ‘If you really are God’s son,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down. The Bible does say, after all, that “God will give his angels a command about you”; and “they will carry you in their hands, so that you won’t hurt your foot against a stone.”’ ‘But the Bible also says’, replied Jesus, ‘that you mustn’t put the Lord your God to the test!’

His Blood Cries Out (January 6, 2020)

What did you do? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground. You are now cursed from the ground that opened its mouth to take your brother’s blood from your hand. When you farm the fertile land, it will no longer grow anything for you, and you will become a roving nomad on the earth. I get no pleasure from the blood. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

The LORD God Created (January 5, 2021)

When God began to create the heavens and the earth—the earth was without shape or form, it was dark over the deep sea, and God’s wind swept over the waters—God said, “Let there be light.” And so light appeared. God saw how good the light was. God separated the light from the darkness. God named the light Day and the darkness Night.

December 11, 2020 (Faithful Love)

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His faithful love endures forever. A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but one who consorts with prostitutes destroys his wealth. Since we have heard that some without our authorization went out from us and troubled you with their words and unsettled your hearts, we have unanimously decided to select men and send them to you along with our dearly loved Barnabas and Paul, who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.

Pandemic Update: Vaccines, Churches and Dr. Francis Collins

The two discussed the virus and what they believed the church should be concerned about amid the pandemic. Dr. Collins recommended that the church stay very conservative on the restrictions as the virus continues to spread far more rapidly than in past months. They also discussed the timing of a vaccine and reopening. Dr. Collins predicts that our society will begin a move back towards normality as soon as a vaccine is released, which could be in the next few weeks.

December 4, 2020 (Peter was standing at the outer gate.)

The Lord has appointed the blessing— life forevermore. One who walks in wisdom will be safe. Peter was kept in prison, but the church was praying fervently to God for him. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and said, “Quick, get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. He went to the house of Mary where many had assembled and were praying. He knocked at the door of the outer gate, and a servant came to answer. When they opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.

December 3, 2020 (Speaking Word)

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down. They heard them speaking in tongues and declaring the greatness of God. The Gentiles had also received the word of God. I remembered the word of the Lord.

December 1, 2020 (Lord Bless)

The man who fears the Lord will be blessed. May the Lord bless you from Zion. “May the Lord’s blessing be on you. We bless you in the name of the Lord.” If one blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be counted as a curse to him.
